Your Work Will Locate You
What is your work? What is your worth? Whatever you do to earn a living is important for your living. Therefore, do it well. It doesn’t matter where you might be located right now, your work will locate you.
Here is an example of how a man’s work located him, and brought from the place of obscurity to limelight.
“And king Solomon sent and brought Hiram from Tyre. He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali; and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze. And he was full of wisdom, understanding, and skill for making work in bronze. He came to king Solomon and did all his work” – 1Kings 7:13-14
Here is a modest but powerful event. King Solomon was building the Temple in Jerusalem. As a man that valued excellence, he searched out for best of skilled workers to deliver on what he wanted.
He hired a foreigner, a non-Jew, who had mastery in the art of bronze work. This young fatherless artisan was sought out to come and work for the King. Why? Because he had mastery of his work. Not only that, he was full of wisdom and understanding.
There are many who are skillful in their trade, but they lack manners, they lack discipline, they lack wisdom, and they have no proper understanding on how to treat their customers. Skill will get you noticed to stand before kings, but wisdom and understanding will cause you to remain before kings.
“Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men”. Proverbs 22:29.
What is your work? Do you do it well? Are you concerned about excellence?
When you need to hire someone to do a job for you, look out for the best of them. Don’t hire or place people in a position because you like them or because you have religious or ethnic affinity with them. Hire them because they are skillful, full of wisdom and understanding to handle the task.
In other words, always search for skill, wisdom, understanding, and excellence in whoever you seek to hire for important responsibility.
It’s doesn’t matter where you are located at the moment in your work, give the best to your work. With time, your work will seek you out. And you shall be relocated from a place of apparent obscurity to limelight.
Give your best to your work, no matter where you are and the people you serve at the moment.
God rewards diligence. And He rewards big time. Don’t be discouraged. Time is a faithful friend and nature is kind to those who are faithful at what they do.
